Do I love the Bible? Do I study it diligently every day? Am I becoming better equipped?
Isa 66:2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.
Mat 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Josh 1:7-8 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. {8} Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Why study the Bible diligently and continuously? So that we may be careful to obey everything in it. Bible study is not the goal. Obedience is the goal. And day-and-night meditation on the Bible is our only hope to achieve this goal.
Psa 119:97-105 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. {98} Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. {99} I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. {100} I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. {101} I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. {102} I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. {103} How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! {104} I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. {105} Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
